Meat eaters vs Vegans, wtf
To my meat eating home skillets,
Recently I have seen an abundance of commentary and posts about veganism, meat eating, etc. It's funny because both sides seem to develop a very "vs" attitude, when I think most people on this planet behave and feel very similarly...
I personally am a vegan. (Recent even! I’ve been a vegetarian for 6 years.) Oftentimes, I encounter sayings from meaters like this:
“Vegans, don’t judge me for what I eat!”
“Vegans think they are holier than thou.”
“Don’t try to shove your beliefs down my throat.”
“Mmm. Bacon.”
While I don’t really have a response to the last one, (Soy bacon really does taste like shit) I would like to “enlighten” you from a vegan perspective.
Firstly, there is no such thing as a true vegan. We ALL fund/participate in animal cruelty in some way or another. How many vegans use flea meds on their animals? How many vegans inadvertently step on bugs/hit them with cars? How many vegans give money to companies that sell meat products?
The point of being vegan isn’t to convert you, be a purist, or to be better than you. I think vegans and meat eaters want the exact same thing. Vegans want to reduce suffering. (whether it be through reducing direct pain, wanting to improve the environment, or wanting to improve human health.) Just like you are probably against needlessly beating a dog, vegans are against needlessly killing animals.
Do we think we are better than you because we don’t eat animals? No. Like I said previously, we ALL support suffering directly or indirectly in some way or another, and I’m going to say most have us have even been meat eaters.
Vegans don’t hate meat eaters. We hate suffering, just like you.
So while some people advocate to send money to charity, not buy sweatshop products, etc, we advocate going vegan. Everyone is going to eventually die, we just want to make the world a better place for the inhabitants - probably exactly how you feel, just applied to a different cause.
I wrote this because I love all of my bacon eating friends!
Just kidding, I wrote this because I have homework to do and I'm procrastinating. These 300 words could have been applied to an assignment! Also, I'm blocked from Healthkicker. Bastards.

I thought people were vegans for health reasons. Huh.
@ordinarybutloud - Vegans are usually vegan for animals, the environment, or health reasons. I just lumped them all together under "suffering," so people could relate.
"Vegans want to reduce suffering. (whether it be through reducing direct pain, wanting to improve the environment, or wanting to improve human health.)"
I don't really care what people eat or don't eat. It's not my business. There are a few select vegans floating around here who are a little....extreme in their beliefs. The only thing they have to offer are these long diatribes often repeating the same thing, and offering no solution to the "problem" at hand. "OMG don't eat meat, they abuse their animals!" Do you have any solutions to better the meat industry?" "Yeah, don't eat animals!" /headdesk
It's an argument that neither side will win, much like religion and atheism. Why people even bother, I have no idea.
If there is anything that both meat eaters and vegans must remember, it's this: no matter how much you try to convince yourself different, semen isn't vegan.
Like every single cause, some people are polarized, not every vegan is sane. Not every rare bloody meat eating human(evolved, look at a fossil record, fuck) is sane.
@the_rocking_of_socks - I think meat eaters and vegans could work together on preventing animal cruelty instead of both sides antagonizing each other. But that would... you know... take common sense and getting off of the computer.
I agree, the arguing that goes on here is counterproductive.
@mynameisblueskye - HAHAHAHA. Tube steak isn't vegan?
@ShimmerBodyCream - I'm sure that as long as you aren't really killing your meat, it's fine. haha!
I once saw a vegan state that he wore second hand leather.
I thought a monster was going to come and eat both sides, and that would be the end of both. ah well
Well said.
Must be tough living in the heartland of farming having your thinking. You do have the option of relocation, you will be supported and loved if that ever happened.
@mynameisblueskye - Yeah, but ingesting semen is probably not linked to cruel preceding conditions
(: lol
lol....the homework avoidance bit at the end got a big laugh out of me.
How could healthkicker block such a well thought out person...
I AGREE. I get tired of people dangling steak in front of my face and telling me what I'm missing... when I don't push my beliefs on them. I once told people on healthkicker I wouldn't cook meat for people that came over and they were smashing me. "How can you not support their diet".
What? It's my house... I don't force them to cook me non-meat dinners when I go over there. I bring my own shit. I don't even know how to cook meat... I'd screw it up anyway. It gets annoying that I NEVER say anything to anyone about their diet, but they have the nerve to talk about mine.
I don't see why we can't all get along. The world doesn't have to be so black and white all the time.
Just add these words to the assignment and find a way to fit them in.
Mmm bacon =). I had a vegan philosophy professor once who spent two classes trying to convert us. All he accomplished was annoying everyone because the syllabus said that we were doing something else. He just didn't want to put "trying to force you to stop eating meat" on it.
Nicely put. I used to be a vegan for a few years because of environmental reasons. I'm no longer on a vegan diet, since I found other ways to reduce the environmental impact of buying meat (i.e., buying meat from local, responsible farmers) while still supporting my local economy.
Naturally, my plate is usually filled with veggies anyway. I commend you for your veganism! It's a tough lifestyle in this bacon-loving country, that's for sure.
Meh, I can understand the vegans that are complety dedicated to it and not uptight pretentious assholes, but I'd kill a kitten to save a human being.
I've had my fare share of animals, when i was a kid they had to put to sleep the kitten I'd only had for a week and I cried and broke something in the doctors office. But if it comes down to human or animal suffering, I've got to stick with my own team.
I have great respect for anyone who's on a vegan (or even vegetarian) diet. It's easier now than it used to be to find meat or dairy substitutes, but it's still hard to go out to eat with friends or anything like that. I don't think I could do it for an extended period of time; I like my meat and cheese too much (and I am lazy lol). But major props to anyone who can do it.
lol my friend said vegetarians are picky eaters --> there's so many type of vegetarians (some eat this but not that)
healthkicker blocked you? sheesh. i guess it depends on the vegan.
I've ran across quite a few vegans who really give me heat about eating meat. I don't do that to them, so I feel you shouldn't do that to me.
Thank you for being respectful in your post!
@Jane - I meant "those people shouldn't do it to me"
Yay!! I'm a veggie! The veggies and vegans should take over the world. But I must admit, I struggle to find a variety to eat in restaurants, there is loads for the meat eaters and about, 2.selections for the vegetarians.
well, you sound like a reasonable vegan who understands the reason why she turned vegan... can't blame if people think vegans have this "holier than thou" attitude because most I meet do have this attitude... one time I was told by a vegan i recently met: "what? you're vegetarian and you drink milk? eww" I was like, huh? that basically summarizes it
hahahaha
Let's roast a lamb!!!
What is difference vegan, vegetarian. If you never eat meat, is that unhealthy?
My beloved one don't like to eat fruits, veggies and salad, he said they're disgusting. If I end up married to him, I gonna makes his life miserable by eating fruits, veggies and salad everyday.
One of the things that frustrated me when I was trying to be vegan (for the wrong reasons at the time) every single cookbook I picked up had an agenda that I found to be off putting. I just wanted a cookbook. If it had to have to have pictures and stories in it, I wanted them to be happy. If I ever go vegan again, I'll just get recipes from non-political websites. I am pretty sure that when John get out of his toddler food phase, he isn't going to want to eat meat and that is fine with me. I'll cook vegetarian/vegan meals for the two of us and his daddy will be on his own (trust me I learned the hard way that his mother was right when she said don't cook for him).
blocked from healthkicker O.o????
anyway, this is a great post. Couldn't have been said better.
I've weighed in on some of those, and my opinion is always the same- that nobody's diet should be of any concern to anyone else. Unfortunately, some on both sides don't agree with me. It's not all vegans that bug me. Actually, it's very rare that vegans bother me. Most of them don't go on and on about their diet- never the most interesting of subjects to begin with- and call you names for eating meat. It's those few who do, who are unfortunately very vocal on xanga, that bug the ever-loving crap out of me.
I love living where I live. Its easy to make friends with the people who own cows. So If I want I can know where my meat is from, its diet, if there is any non-natural stuff in it, how well it has been treated and if it had name, what it was called. Same thing with chickens.
You're right, none of us want suffering. I'm just sick of vegans/vegetarians looking down on me because I won't give up meat. I don't want to, and I don't want to have to make a lifestyle change to eat alternatives for the same nutrients as meat. I'm not inferior for that though.
you know what, we should advocate vegan vs carnivors, um, i mean meat eaters, bashing in xanga much² more
this kind of bashing might give a new fresh air of the tiring religion vs nonreligion or whatever fight we tend to have here
hahaha
I don't mind what others decide to embrace as their diet. My biggest problem is facing the "holier than thous" of veganism. I had a coworker who constantly called people names like "bloodmouth" and "second-class" because of their decision to eat meat. He used to flat out tell us he was better. All the time. No one wanted to work with him or be around him because he was one of the most conceited, narcissistic vegan-pushers we have ever met. I am fine with whatever people want to eat, so long as there is no attitude about it. I love what you wrote and how you view it; others need to be the same.
I've always thought about becoming a vegetarian/vegan. I hate animal cruelty, but I also like to eat meat, and thats the way it is. My thought process is that one person deciding not to eat meat isn't going to change anything. The animal is still going to be killed, and still going to be eaten.
I do try to make sure that the meat is at least free range, so that the animal enjoyed it's life while it lasted.
I don't look at a cow or a pig, though, and think mmm nice bit of steak or pork. I see them as an animal, and nothing else. The same applies to meat. My hamburger isn't a bit of cow in my mind, it's just food.
I could be a vegan as long as I could have beef gravy on my mashed potatoes.....just saying.
i befriend predators, i eat prey. kitten and i dine on chicken together. nom.
It drives me nuts how some vegans/vegetarians think meat eaters are killing animals. No, we're not, the meat industry is, we're just eating them, they would have been slaughtered whether we ate them or not, honestly. But I digress.
Also, I thought all vegan/vegetarian women had small boobs, and I didn't know you were vegan, so nevermind, you have completely removed that assumption from my mind. Haha.
Ohhhhhh yes I liked this post!
Wise words and very enlightening
Thank you for sharing!
And when I first turned Vegetarian all I got was the "Mmm. Baconnnn" type of comments.
I eat vegans.
I'm trying to convert ton being a veggie or a vegan. I think it's cool that you really commit to it.
I'm definitely guilty of saying that last one
also, healthkicker is a bitch for blocking you!
@CaKaLusa - this made me laugh out loud hahaha
I was on the Atkins diet. Then I discovered fruit. And OMG, they're so fucking delicious.
Being a fruit myself, apples and pears are technically cannibalism. But I don't care. ='(
@CaKaLusa - I kill meat eaters. But I leave them alone afterwards and let nature reclaim them.
@Dare2BDiferentt - Peoople like you feed the meat industry. Do you think child exploitation would continue to exist fo there were no pedophiles in the world? Would breweies continue to make money if alcoholics aroudn the world simutaneously spontaneously combust?
The truth should be plain.
I tried being vegan once, for like, a week. But being a T-Rex, veggies just couldn't sustain my girth, and my tiny hands make them hard to pick.
Bahaha, I kid. I am actually vegetarian, and did attempt veganism for said week-ish. But that shit is hard, yo! I give vegans props, as long as they're not lifestyle-snobs. One of my best buddies has been vegan for 20 years or so, but is very cool and non-judgmental about it. There are militants and non-militants to every cause, as has been said.
You mistake me madam. I support suffering. I think it builds character.
HAH, PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT. DAMN HIPPY.
I do accept as true with all of the ideas you've presented for your post. They are really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are too short for newbies. May you please extend them a bit from next time? Thank you for the post.
These smart meters are just athoner perversion of Psychiatric Mind Control. By invasion of each citizens space he or she has no castle where he is King/Queen.The intent is that of socialism, to interfere and manipulate and control every citizen on every tiny little thing, to then mold and coerce behavior and implement brainwashing. Socialism is the stepping stone to Communism. Communism is the implementation of slavery. There is no actual communist political party it is just a crminal gang, which operates as an Itelligence Unit. Thats how they remain hidden. The enemy are just criminals that believe Man is an animal, thanks to the input of Psychiatry, psychology, social science and Eugenics.
That's an ingenious way of thinking about it.
